The Australian called it “simply sublime” with the Sydney Morning Herald giving it 4.5 stars and declaring that “you’d be made to miss it”. The Scoop said in their five-star review that “whether it is your first or hundredth exposure to the tale of My Fair Lady, this is absolutely a production to see” while Sydney Arts Guide called it “the biggest musical of the year.”
Praise was also showered upon the musical’s leading lady with the Sydney Morning Herald declaring that Claire Lyon’s performance as Eliza Doolittle “enchants as she effortlessly blends comedy, elegance and singing with a beautifully rounded soprano voice” with Stage Whispers declaring that “every note and syllable was pitch perfect.”
The Sydney Morning Herald also declared her co-star Nathaniel Parker as “splendid” in the role of Professor Henry Higgins while The Scoop said that Reg Livermore “brings absolutely brilliant comedic timing, physicality and vocal characterisation to the role” with The Australian calling him “sublime” and “a delight”.
